GoFloaters: India's largest coworking space aggregator

Overview

GoFloaters is India’s largest coworking space aggregator, helping freelancers and remote workers book coworking spaces on demand. The business model is commission-based and currently operates in 46 cities in India.

Design Process

My initial design approach was opinionated and focused on key revenue drivers like search & booking experiences. As the business grew, we relied on user feedback & product analytics to make design decisions.

My Role

Product Designer (2019-2020), Product Manager (2021)

As the first product design hire, I reported directly to the founders and was responsible for designing the app's beta version. Post-launch, I drove UX for key functions like search, discovery & bookings. As we expanded operations to 24 cities across the country, we experimented with multiple customer segments, features and services in a short period. My responsibilities quickly grew to include:

♦︎ Conducting user interviews with power users to understand their challenges.

♦︎ Creating a cohesive & modular design system to improve our development velocity.

♦︎ Creating high-fidelity prototypes of features based on user feedback and product roadmap.

♦︎ Designing UI components for key functions like search, discovery & booking.

♦︎ Designing the web landing page, and a custom CMS powered by GatsbyJS.

♦︎ Spearheading our B2B initiative WorqFlexi, after getting promoted as Product Manager.

Team Contribution

As the company expanded operations, our team grew to 14—comprising six software engineers, four customer support agents, and four marketing executives. My design role was cross-functional, and I collaborated with engineering and customer support teams to test the technical feasibility of features and collect feedback.

After getting promoted as PM, I led the team responsible for WorqFlexi, our flagship B2B initiative. This team consisted of 2 engineers and customer support agents. I was responsible for product design, road mapping, and project management while my team handled development and support. I tracked KPIs like monthly GMV growth and MAUs and reported directly to the CEO.

Key Challenges Addressed

As an early-stage startup with a small team size, our initial challenges revolved around feature prioritization, consistent quality across multiple geographies and technical bandwidth. As we rapidly grew across various cities, we faced a different set of challenges:

♦︎ Enabling a seamless check-in experience for customers—We achieved this by implementing a QR booking system that coworking managers can use to authenticate bookings made via the app instantly.

♦︎ Designing for multiple customer segments and preferences—We addressed this by designing and implementing a customized filters feature that enabled customers to quickly search and book spaces based on their preferences.

♦︎ Consistent multi-platform booking experience—We addressed this by implementing a comprehensive design system, reusing components across web and mobile to provide a consistent booking experience.

Key Outcomes

A seamless booking and search experience was a key driver in our expansion to 24 cities within 16 months of beta launch. Our UX solutions particularly contributed in the following outcomes:

♦︎ A consistent 35% monthly GMV growth.

♦︎ A net $2M GMV within the first 16 months.
